TIMBER MART Virtual Platform Successful

TIMBER MART’s endeavour to host its regional dealer meetings and annual negotiations with its vendor community safely and effectively amid COVID-19 on virtual platforms has been successful. “Our members and the vendor community have been very appreciative of our efforts to host virtual meetings [versus physical ones] and protect all parties involved especially during the second wave of COVID. Because we’re finding that virtual meetings are just as effective as in-person meetings especially for vendor negotiations, it makes very little sense to be travelling to meetings and risking the safety of all involved when they can be effectively done on a virtual platform. While we are all looking forward to seeing COVID-19 in the rear view mirror, health and safety comes first and going virtual is the most effective way to do business safely until then,” says Randy Martin, vice-president of procurement for TIMBER MART. The group hosted hundreds of meetings on virtual platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom and found that with information sharing prior to the meetings, everyone was well-prepared to engage with each other online and make the most of their time together. It plans to continue meeting virtually for the foreseeable future.
