October Private U.S. Residential Building Permits Unchanged

Privately-owned housing units authorized by building permits in October in the U.S were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.55 million, virtually unchanged from the revised September rate, says the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. However, this was 2.8 percent per cent above the October 2019 rate of 1.5 million. Single-family authorizations in October were at a rate of 1.12 million, 0.6 per cent above the revised September figure of 1.11 million. Single-family housing starts in October were at a rate of 1.18 million, this is 6.4 per cent above the revised September figure of 1.11 million. Single-family housing completions in October were at a rate of 883,000; 3.4 per cent below the revised September rate of 914,000. The October rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 444,000.
