Home Depot Reaches Settlement

Home Depot Inc. reached a $17.5 million settlement with 46 U.S states and Washington, DC, from a hacker breach. The settlement follows a data breach in 2014 where hackers accessed payment card information from 40 million customers. The breach affects customers who used self-checkout terminals at its U.S. and Canadian stores between April 10, 2014, and September 13, 2014. Home Depot has not admitted liability in the settlement that requires them to hire a chief information security officer and upgrade security protocols.
