Quebec Lays Down The Law

Quebec is tightening health guidelines for holiday shopping to help limit the spread of COVID-19. The measures include a maximum capacity of customers per floor space, distancing rules on display for customers to see, and markings so shoppers can navigate the store with ease. Geneviève Guilbault, deputy premier of Quebec, says shopping venues that fail to abide will be fined up to $6,000 or closed altogether. Workplace safety inspectors and police will be monitoring shopping districts for the holiday period.
