Quebec City Sees Uptick In Home Sales

Quebec City, QC, has seen a slight increase in buying and selling intentions from consumers, says a survey by the Association des professionnels de la construction et de l'habitation du Québec (APCHQ), the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, the Société d'habitation du Québec (SHQ), and the Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers (QPAREB). The upturn in buying is a result of a greater interest in home ownership, with first-time buyers representing 51 per cent of potential future buyers. As well, homeowners indicate that they have done or are currently working remotely and require a larger office space; have a desire for a yard or garden; or want to live farther from their place of work. "Considering that just over seven out of 10 future buyers plan to purchase an existing property, we can expect that the resale market will remain very dynamic in the coming years," says Charles Brant, director of the QPAREB's market analysis department.
