Lowe’s Expands Digitally

With the online traffic increase on the Lowe’s website that began mid-June 2020, the company now uses the cloud to stabilize online traffic, says Marvin Ellison, its president and chief executive officer. Providing an investor update on the strategic growth, productivity, and financial targets for the company, he said the increase in traffic is due to an increase in consumer DIY projects because of the pandemic, as well its rising distribution sales as a supplier for other businesses. It can now handle over 100 deployments per week of enhancements to the site compared to less than 600 for the entire year in 2018, he said. The website has been updated to handle the matching amount online that crashed the site on Black Friday in 2018. This is now done daily.
