Attack Hits Home Hardware

Home Hardware Stores Ltd. was hit by a ransomware attack in February. A report by ITWorldCanada.com says an unauthorized third-party was able to access parts of its corporate data and threatened to start releasing it over the weekend. Once the attack was detected, the company immediately engaged its cybersecurity firm and implemented counter-measures to isolate and contain the attack. As a result, it was able to maintain full business continuity, it says. Since each of its stores are independently owned and operated, it says its investigation shows the attack has not impacted dealer retail systems or any consumer transaction or payment data.
