Well Made Here Launches Three Projects

Well Made Here, a not-for-profit organization that shares information to do-it-yourselfers and contractors to find out about Canadian products, is heading up three projects concurrently with the hope of concluding at least one in 2021 and the other two in subsequent years. For 2021, the board of directors plans to create a modified action plan in response to the pandemic and supply issues. As well, the organization will explore partnerships with national, provincial, and local initiatives that support local buying. The third project is to develop a web and/or television series that juxtaposes two teams where each builds a property. They will compete to see which team can achieve the highest usage rate of Well Made Here accredited products and the best value for money. The series, which would be presented in both national languages, is intended to demonstrate that any build can be completed in whole with domestically sourced products and persons. A secondary objective is to prove that a building designed and built with quality products and talented persons may cost a little more at the start, but that its value over 25 years is far superior than another build which would have banked on lower-end quality.
