Quebec Cities See Strong Condo, Plex Sales

Residential sales in the Montreal, QC, census metropolitan area (CMA) were up eight per cent in March despite a seven per cent decrease in single-family home, says the Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers (QPAREB). There was a significant rise in sales of plexes, up 36 per cent, and condominiums, up 27 per cent, across the CMA. Outside the Island of Montreal plex sales surged 64 per cent in March. Active listings were up 20 per cent. In Quebec City, residential sales rose 18 per cent in March. This represents the highest number of sales recorded in the month of March since the real estate brokers’ Centris system began compiling market statistics. Condominium sales were up 77 per cent and plex sales were up 42 per cent – all historic levels for March. Single-family homes were once again the exception for a second consecutive month with a two per cent decrease. Active listings were also down.
