Canadians Started On Outdoor Projects

While February was all about bathrooms for Canadian homeowners, March was all about outside projects. HomeStars’ March survey shows homeowners have already started their outdoor renovations, with service requests up more than 200 per cent for many outdoor projects. The survey says 54 per cent of Canadians plan to improve their outdoor space this year. Compared to March 2020, service requests for sod installation had the top increase at 1,156 per cent. Custom built pergolas and trellises came in second with a 933 per cent increase in service requests year-over-year, followed by deck, fence, patio, or porch clean and seal which were up 836 per cent. Requests to install fabric awning or patio covers increased 717 per cent year-over-year. Requests to build sunrooms or patio enclosures, installing lawn and garden sprinkler systems; repairing decks or porches; and installing brick and stone patios and walkways saw similar increases.
