GTA Has Record Home Sales

Home sales in the Greater Toronto, ON, Area have set a record for April, more than quadrupling year-over-year, from when the pandemic first began and the economic impact of COVID-19 was considered at its worst. Despite a 12.7 per cent decrease compared to March, there were 13,663 sales through the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) MLS system in April. “While sales remained very strong last month, many realtors noted a marked slowing in both the number of transactions and the number of new listings,” says Lisa Patel, president of TRREB. “We’ve experienced a torrid pace of home sales since the summer of 2020 while seeing little in the way of population growth.”
