Unit Pricing Boosts Masonite Sales

Masonite International Corporation had net sales of $646 million in the first quarter of 2021, an increase of 17 per cent over net sales of $551 million in the first quarter of 2020. The increase was mainly the result of increased average unit price (AUP). North American residential net sales were $477 million, a 24 per cent increase compared to the first quarter of 2020 and architectural net sales were $75 million, an 18 per cent decrease compared to the first quarter of 2020. Total company gross profit was $159 million in the quarter, an increase of 18 per cent compared to $134 million in the year-ago period. Gross profit margin increased 10 basis points to 24.5 per cent. The company had net income of $47 million, up 57 per cent compared to $30 million in the previous year quarter.
