Housing Markets Drive Brampton Brick Earnings

Brampton Brick Limited had a net loss of $262,000 for the first quarter of 2021 compared to a net loss of $5.97 million for the first quarter of 2020. Revenues for the quarter increased to $36.3 million, up from $21 million in the year-ago period. Shipments from both the masonry products and landscape products business segments increased significantly on rising demand for masonry products in the Ontario housing and commercial markets and an unseasonably high demand from landscape product dealers and distributors. Operating income was $471,000 compared to an operating loss of $6.1 million in the 2020 first quarter. The masonry product segment had revenues of $24.8 million for the first quarter compared to $19 million in the prior year period and the landscape product segment had revenues of $11.4 million compared to $1.9 million.
