Sales Rise At Grainger

Grainger had sales of $3.2 billion for the second quarter of 2021, up 13.1 per cent and up 15 per cent on an organic, daily, constant currency basis compared to the second quarter 2020. Gross margin for the quarter was 35 per cent, a 75 basis point decline over the prior-year quarter driven by pandemic-related inventory adjustments. Operating earnings were $334 million, up 62 per cent versus the year-ago period, primarily due to losses taken in the second quarter of 2020 related to the divested Fabory business. Grainger’s business in Canada, now operating as Grainger Canada, had daily sales of $138 million compared to $107 million in the year-ago period.
