Ontario Retailers Exempt From Requiring Proof Of Vaccination

Ontarians will need to be fully vaccinated and must prove their vaccination status to access certain businesses and settings starting September 22. However, retailers fall under exemption and will not need to have customers show proof of vaccination to enter the store. The public settings that will require proof include high-risk indoor public spaces and businesses such as movie theatres, restaurants and bars, meeting and event spaces, and sports and fitness facilities. The policy does not apply to employees. Retailers can, however, implement a voluntarily vaccination protocol. The province recommends using the forthcoming vaccination certification and a secure QR code that will be released in a mobile app that is currently under development.
