Home Depot Canada Foundation Combats Youth Homelessness

The Home Depot Canada Foundation has launched TradeWorx, a targeted investment to combat youth homelessness by creating opportunities for career education and skilled trades training. Through its initial $1 million investment, 100 Canadian youth who have experienced homelessness or barriers to employment will receive training and social supports to work in the skilled trades. To-date, the foundation has invested more than $42 million in support of preventing and ending youth homelessness in Canada, including investing in research, housing, and life skills development programs. The employment social enterprise model will include initial partnerships with 10 community organizations across Canada including: Blue Door (Ontario), Build Up Saskatoon (Saskatchewan), Choices for Youth (Newfoundland), Newo Global Energy (Alberta), and Purpose Construction (Manitoba).
