NGen Supports Manufacturing SMEs

Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen), an industry-led organization leading Canada’s Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster, has co-funded 12 projects at the pilot and feasibility stage. It supports small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as they prove out and de-risk advanced manufacturing development and implementation projects. “It’s expensive and risky to create something new and to develop world leading solutions. It’s critical that we support and de-risk technology development at its early stages,” says Jayson Myers, CEO of NGen. Among the projects that were approved for co-investment are Apex Industries in Moncton, NB, and a partner company based in Saint John, NB, which are developing a manufacturing process and installation method for manufactured stone veneer panels, enabling them to present a complete manufacturing process to the market. APEX plans use the technology to establish a production line for manufactured stone, growing significantly in the large $1.5 billion North America market over the next number of years.
