Home Improvements Planned For 2022

Making their home more functional is at the top of the list of resolutions for homeowners, says research from Zillow. Seventy-two per cent of homeowners will consider at least one home improvement project in the coming year, which makes sense considering most people spent more time than ever in their homes the past 22 months. Bathroom remodels are the most popular project to tackle, with more than half of homeowners considering a bathroom renovation this year. Buyers also are willing to pay a premium for spa-inspired bathroom features, such as ‘curbless’ showers, heated floors, and free-standing bathtubs. Kitchen remodels are also widely popular, with Zillow's research showing 46 per cent of homeowners considering that project in 2022. Luxury kitchen amenities are must-haves over the past year and that will likely continue as people spend more time cooking and eating at home. Other top projects (in order of importance) include landscaping, first floor additions, decks, backyard homes, exterior and interior painting, and installing pools.
