March Retail Sales Up

Retail sales reached $59.2 billion in March, an increase of 4.2 per cent from the same month last year, says Statistics Canada’s ‘Retail Commodity Survey’ for March 2022. Higher sales were reported in 11 of 19 commodity classes. Automotive and household fuels contributed with an increase of 46.1 per cent. Hardware, tools, and renovation and lawn and garden products reached sales of $4.6 billion, down 3.7 per cent compared to sales of $4.7 billion in March 2021.
