Rising Prices Affect Canadians

Nearly three in four Canadians report that rising prices affect their ability to meet day-to-day expenses, says Statistics Canada’s ‘Portrait of Canada Survey.’ As a result, many Canadians are adjusting their spending habits and delaying the purchase of a home or moving to a new rental. As well, half of Canadians have sought out sales and promotions in the six months preceding the survey. Forty-seven per cent purchased cheaper alternatives, brands, or items and 45 per cent delayed making a purchase in response to rising prices.
