Upgrades Main Motivator For Remodeling

A desire to upgrade is driving homeowner decisions, says a survey by Accountability Information Management (AIM). Nearly half (49 per cent) of homeowners want to make upgrades to their current home by adding features or refurbishing existing ones. In terms of remodeling, painting walls, replacing flooring, and bathroom upgrades such as new fixtures and fittings topped the list. More than 50 per cent of respondents also indicate they would replace kitchen cabinets and countertops. Thirty per cent of respondents say they wanted to relocate, with more space needed as the top reason (24 per cent) to do so. Thirteen per cent would move because they want to downsize and 11 per cent want more accessibility.
