CarbiCrete and Meta partner to advance low-carbon concrete

CarbiCrete, a Montreal-based company focused on decarbonizing concrete, announced a new collaboration with Meta to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon concrete. The partnership will fund the installation of CarbiCrete’s equipment at Canal Block in Ontario and expand its capacity at Patio Drummond in Quebec.

CarbiCrete’s patented technology replaces cement with a steel-making by-product, removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and permanently storing it in the concrete. 3Degrees, a climate solutions provider, will oversee the verification of emission reductions from this process.

“Decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors like concrete is an important part of our strategy to achieve net zero emissions across our value chain in 2030,” said Devon Lake, head of net zero strategy at Meta.
