SimpliCity receives funding to streamline housing permit process

SimpliCity Digital Inc. has secured up to C$90,240 in funding from the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to enhance its platform for municipal housing permits. The funding will support the development of an API solution to integrate and streamline housing permit applications, making the process faster, more transparent, and user-friendly for businesses and citizens.

CEO Briana Sim emphasized that the project will strengthen SimpliCity’s growing, woman-led business and aid in addressing Canada’s housing shortage.

“The funding will help grow our team and enhance our platform to continue delivering innovative solutions to municipalities across the country with a focus on digital transformation,” said Sim.

The initiative will include self-service portals and dashboards for both public users and municipal staff. Municipalities are invited to participate in the pilot project, with a beta release scheduled for March 2025.
